Szechuwan Garden Restaurant in Canoga Park offers a straightforward, full-service dining experience focused on classic Chinese and broader Asian flavors with a nod towards Sichuan's distinctive spice profile. Located right off CA-27, it serves both dine-in guests and those looking for convenient delivery options, making it a practical choice in the neighborhood for a variety of occasions—whether a quick lunch, family dinner, or team meal.

The interior has a familiar, casual vibe common to family-run Chinese spots — comfortable but unpretentious. Expect attentive, if not always lightning-fast, service that has been praised for friendliness and helpfulness, especially during busy lunch hours. The restaurant sees a steady flow of locals, especially during mid-day when their lunch specials, including soup or salad with rice and an egg roll, present good value.

Food-wise, the menu covers familiar territory while offering some solid regional touches. Dishes like Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken, and Beef Noodle Soup stand out for their well-developed sauces and balanced seasoning, which some locals note lean a bit saltier than typical but add depth to the flavor. The Sichuan-inspired selections such as Kung Pao Chicken and Mapo Tofu provide authentic heat levels with room for customization — spiciness can be adjusted but expects a genuine hint of mala with Sichuan peppercorns.

Vegetarian and vegan diners will find an unusually broad set of plant-based options, from vegan cashew chicken to vegan Mongolian beef, which shows the kitchen’s willingness to cater beyond usual expectations. Steamed vegetable and seafood dishes provide lighter alternatives that suit health-conscious eaters or those seeking a cleaner palate.

This place fits well for anyone looking for familiar Chinese staples with the occasional fiery, regional twist. It’s especially suited for groups and families, thanks to its generous portions and variety menu, as well as for those wanting quick yet satisfying delivery. Although popular for lunch specials, the early evening hours can offer a quieter atmosphere and better personal attention.

Overall, visitors can expect a solid meal that balances comforting hearty dishes with some spicy regional specialties, backed by friendly, if sometimes slightly distracted service. The takeout and delivery service is efficient, making it convenient for locals who want authentic-tasting Chinese food without fuss or long waits.

Ordered takeout and food was made fast. Service was quick and front of the house is friendly. The chow men is a bit thicker. Their chicken dishes were delicious and perfectly cooked. Their darker sauce dishes are more flavorful than other Chinese restaurants nearby. The moo goo gai pan was good. In comparison to other Chinese restaurants here, they have saltier food, but that lends to a good flavor.

Lived near this restaurant for 5 years, but decided to try it for the first time with my family—and it did not disappoint! Our waitress greeted us the moment we walked in and seated us right away. We went during lunchtime, and I was impressed by the great value of the lunch specials, which come with rice, an egg roll, and soup or salad. We ordered Mongolian Beef, Crispy Spicy Shredded Beef, Combination Lo Mein, Eggplant with Szechuwan Sauce, and Spicy Honey Chicken. Each dish had its own delicious, unique flavor that really stood out. The Mongolian beef had a perfect balance of savory and sweet, and the eggplant had just the right amount of heat from the Szechuwan sauce. The Spicy Honey Chicken was wonderfully crispy, with a nice sweet-and-spicy kick. And don’t miss the housemade spicy mustard sauce—it’s the perfect complement with a great punch of flavor. The waitress was very attentive, always making sure our table was cleared quickly without rushing us. The restaurant itself had a cozy, inviting atmosphere, perfect for family meals. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for authentic, tasty Chinese food at a great price!

This was our first time here and we were looking forward to trying it for some time. I have to tell you that it didn’t disappoint! Such delicious food and great service. Our waiter served our wonton soup for us, quickly gave us waters and napkins and was just so attentive. We will absolutely come back soon! Such a great spot for a quick NYE dinner. Thank you for the food and the service.

Good solid Sichuan food. The Kung pao chicken was delicious. The Map tofu was good, but could have been spicier with more chili oil, but at least it had hua jiao. The Singapore noodles didn't disappoint, with jumbo shrimp, chicken, and bbq pork. Prices were reasonable and the portions generous. Expect to need take home containers...

A quick place for team lunch. Portion size was good. Service could have been more prompt as I had to ask for the server to take our order, refill, take out box. Besides that food was good…will be back soon.

I have been going here for years and was sad when they closed down during Covid. When they opened up with a remodeled look I was very happy. I really like this place because most of the time my servers are so awesome and attentive. I rarely get someone who has been having a bad day. Also this is the only place that I have found nearby me that serves Sweet and Pungent Chicken. Their daily specials are $10 during lunch and $2 upcharge at dinner but these specials are served every day. You can get favorites like orange chicken, sweet & sour pork (or chicken), and beef & broccoli (or chicken). They also have a great Lo Mein in the daily specials (although this last time they put too much soy sauce for my taste) but the server suggested the entree that is only 50¢ more at more than double the serving in the special (this is great for family style and if you want any to take home) but the smaller portion is good for a lunch size with an eggroll, rice (steamed or fried) and soup or salad. I definitely recommend this place for some good food, pleasant ambiance and lovely service.
